Just one of those days....

Scooter wouldn't start; Don't know what I'm gonna do about it,
                                                              Idaho drivers cannot drive,

Then found some books at the library,
Planned to get only 1; left with 3 hehe,
skyped with the Hindenburg; we wrote an improv song about tuberculosis.
I am now one step closer to my dream of being a Renaissance minstrel.
                                                                                   Next hit: Inter-cranial hemorrhaging
                                                                                                           wore my favorite shirt,
        ate Hummus,
                  some wings,
                          some oreos

What do I love most about this picture?
How Josh looks like a zombie,
and I look like a young, male, Chinese warrior. HIIII-YA!

Most of all, today I laughed!!!                                                                       I love laughing.

Cuteness explained

This is my blog, I can post as many times as I want in a day.

Bravery

Don't you know that I belong

Some day I may be brave enough...
       arm-in-arm with you
            Baby??

Cute

Please tell me you know what video this is from??

Thwarted again!

I got home from church today to find the 1000 piece puzzle put away and replaced with a pile of pieces for the next puzzle that is to be done instead. This one is a much smaller and easier puzzle, so once again I am back to not doing the puzzle but rather looking on from a distance. Or if I do put pieces together, I have to take them apart before leaving the table.
Thus, reading was the only productive thing I did yesterday morning. ha
I finished the book today. It was an interesting read. I am ready to head back to the library for more historical fiction.
After church today I went to meet a lady that I am going to be house sitting for next weekend. She is really cute.  She has a really cozy house and two super cute plump dogs. :] She also is letting me drive her car while she is gone so I can get to and from work. I can't believe someone is paying me to stay in their comfy, quiet house and snuggle with their cute pups. I am really excited about it. Oh yeah I forgot to mention,  she lives on the outskirts of  downtown Boise. I think I know where I will be spending my time this weekend.

So in church today I got to thinking. The worship leader was singing prophetically about being in our Fathers presence and being innocent, and about Him being a father to those who don't have a father figure. I thought about it and realize that even though I have a great dad here on earth God is totally taking care of me as a father now that I don't have my dad around.   It was a very comforting thought.

God is really taking care of me. I think He wants me to go to Zimbabwe. He seems to be taking care of money issues. I picked up 5 more hours yesterday than I was originally scheduled for.

Remember the other day when I was talking about that glorious bead store, and my great purchases? Yeah???
Good! Becuase I made something with them and I am very excited to show you.
So the one on the left is my favorite, all I bought was the little coi and the bead which is a great color. Look how cute it turned out.(reminds me of doing Yoga Booty Ballet with Julia. haha) LOVE!
I made the whale one because it reminded me of The Weepies, and its so cute.
I put it on fishing line too which is a nice touch I think.
What do you think? DO you love them? I'll make you a necklace if you want. :]

I have to work for a few hours tonight. I am so tired now that I don't really want to work.
It's a short shift though so it's not a big deal.

How on earth am I so awake right now??

Today upon waking up and eating breakfast, it was decided that a new puzzle would be started.
Brenda and her mom decided on a 1000 piece one. and they would let me help with this one. I usually don't work on the puzzles that are started in the house.
Let me explain why with a story. There was a puzzle started here a month or so ago, it took weeks to be completed, I came home from my EMT tests and upon passing I decided to celebrate by doing that same puzzle. I did the puzzle without even looking at the picture on the box, It took me 2 hours.
That is why I just look on at a distance usually.
This 1000 piece puzzle is hard though.
So I worked on the puzzle fora little while, and read before going to work at 3. I worked from 3-close. SO like almost 9 hours. It was a really good day at work. It went really fast.
That is really what I did with my day. There is not much you can do in a day if you work for 9 hours of it.
I am starting to yawn now. Time to snuggle into my bed and read.
Brenda is a goof ball and is up watching tennis at 1am.
SO funny.

 Night friends

I'm wondering if this should end in a question mark

                                                        If only this were supportable.
Though that means I haven't been missed lately.

Fridays

Today I spent a day having adventures with COurtney. She picked me up after she got off work. We went downtown and got some coffee at the flying M.  I couldn't decide what to get...I hate how indecisive I can be at times. I ended up going with a mocha with coconut. It was great! The barista there even made some foam art on  our drinks. I want to learn how so badly.
We got our coffees and sat outside for a while watching a bicycle cop write a ticket for a car parked in front of the cafe. We then walked on to find a place for breakfast. We split a "skillet" at a small diner we found. THen we headed out for tea. Her mom had come into town and was having tea at a local..well..tea house. It was fun.
They had the cutest tea pots ever. Like the ones you find all over China town. :]
Would you look at those cute cups?!!!??!?!?! I love them.

This cool tree was outside of the tea place.  That cage looking thing on the side was shaped like a heart. SO neat.

After tea it seems only right that we stop by a bead store. It was glorious!
So many beads. I found some really cute charms and beads that I already have great plans for. My bill was under 2 dollars.
:]

This was only like a 3rd of the store. There were so many beads. I was almost overwhelmed! I really like beads.

The cute thing about Courtney is that like me she will  say things like "do you want to swing with me?" and I obviously do, so we went and found swings.  Then we wanted icecream or such, so we went and got ice cream. I wish more people were that chill. Just able to do what you want to do. We drove along listening to Simon and Garfunkel which was conveniently already in her car stereo. It was a good day.

Once I got home, I went over to the neighbors house for dinner along with Brenda and her mom. I wasn't planning on going but Brooklynn came over and sat on my bed all cute like and asked me to come over, so I did. haha
 Dinner was yummy.
Brooklynn and I snuggled a little before dinner. She has a huge bed, and I was super sleepy.
I am still super sleepy and am typing this pretty much out of a feeling of obligation.
I'm sorry if you can tell that my heart is not in this post nearly at all.

now an update

Busy last few days. Great last few days!
My internet has not been reliable so blogging fell to the bottom of my priority list.
 Let's see what has happened.....
Wednesday was my day off. I drove around and took care of some errands. A while back I had a box full of coins from my tip jar that I finally got around to rolling and taking to the bank on Wednesday.
I also wandered into a Christian book store and walked out with this adorable mug that was surprisingly on sale. I love it!
I know, I know, I have a problem with buying mugs, but before you think bad of me you need to know that my blue one (the one that my last cell phone plunged to its death within) has become chipped and somehow lost it's lid. I fear it got thrown away.
I also bought the book "Crazy Love" which so many people have made mention of. I bought it to participate in a book study at Gary and Elen's house on WEdnesday nights.
I bought the book, came home and read it while I cooked lunch, printed out support letters,  then headed out for the book study.

Thursday I worked and naturally had school.
Near  the end of my shift a manager came back to cafe and started going over with grand rearranging ideas with me. So by the time I left the cafe was a complete construction zone. I am going to be so lost during my shift tomorrow. I just remembered that I am working 9 hours tomorrow. Goodness.
I came home and put together a hearty meal. I was so hungry and just wanted something that would not be full of preservatives.

I absolutely love bell peppers all fried up in a pan with minimal seasoning.
It was just what I needed.
At school we talked about COPD and Asthma along with listening to lung sounds.
Some class mates and I hit up BWW for boneless wing night after. It was really a great time. I love laughing with people. I feel so blessed since moving here. I am surrounded with some of the best sorts of people.
We ate some wings, chatted about who knows what, and I cracked way too many cheesy jokes.

Yes, we have no banana's........

currently listening to : please speak well of me, by the Weepies
Today at school we had "the talk"........................
And this is a photo of how it happens........

                                                                Tuberculosis that is.
                                                          Very nasty disease you know.
What did you think I was talking about??
Get your mind where it should be, and that is on saving lives!

I think that after 4 months of living in Idaho it is only fitting that I post a pic of a potato.
Would you believe it is I told you that these are not actual potatoes???
They are in fact Ice cream. :]
                                                    Ice cream covered in Cocoa.
This is mine, complete with all the fixings.
Hot fudge, whipped cream, and almonds. MMMMMM....
A class mate made these and brought them into class tonight.
I daresay it was the best potato I have ever tasted!

I also got this calender today at work. It was on sale for $2.99.
I love Van Gogh, and I figure if nothing else, I can in the future frame some of the prints in it.
                                                          Cannot beat the price.

 *  Did you know Iron and Wine's new album came out today?????  As soon as it makes its way to Panda, it is mine.

  * My class mate Manaal, whom I sit next to, told me today that I should go into Graphic design. SHe said this after seeing me doodle in my notebook during class.   It makes me feel good to hear her say that. I have been practicing abstract designs since my Design 1 class (gosh, how long ago was that? 2 years maybe) because that was almost impossible for me then. I guess my practice is paying off. Will I go into design in the future? No. Will I keep practicing? Definitely.

That is all for now. I should very much like to finish this book so I can start another.

Jan 24

currently listening to: Iron and Wine- Resurrection's Fern,

SO many geese! This was on the way back from Jennifer's house. I did some house work for her today so she could get other work done. :]
In other news, DO NOT GO TO MOXIE JAVA! I am so mad at that place. I went for their "mocha monday" deal. My mocha was 3 dollars and when I said that I wanted Whipped cream they just put a little bit on the lid of the cup. Yes, ON THE LID. Nothing inside...and I love whipped cream..:[
Now that you know my present beef, I will leave you.
The other day I was sitting in my bed, and I looked around my room at all of the stuff in it and thought "I really don't give a crap about any of this stuff.".
I still feel that way days later.
Maybe I will be hitting up a consignment store in the near future

I have no idea who that is, but it is not Gimli!

Ok so imagine this: Captain Hook, and Captain Jack Sparrow get into a fight....who wins???? My money is on Hook. Just sayin!
Brooklynn says "WHAT!?!?! It's totally Capt. Jack Sparrow."
Silly girl!
Capt. Hook has been a pirate way longer.

Give A man a fish and he will eat for a day; teach his to fi1sh and he will be gone all day

It has been such a dreary day. It is over cast and is threatening to rain. I just finished reading the book I posted about before.
It was a gripping book. I was up for hours reading it last night.
I thought it was going to die down and get boring and then BAM there was a riot of peasants that stormed her home while her husband was away, and "the villian" of the story came to attack her and almost has his way with her until she managed to bust his head against a giant church bell rendering him unconscious,( I immediately started fretting about inter-cranial  pressure, until I remembered he was a villian) and she stole his horse and then rescued her children by sneaking through a hidden tunnel!
Then her husband, whom she doesn't really love, but was rather forced by the king and queen to marry , the lord of Holland, dies of the black plague.
And guess what!?!?! In the end, she does get to marry the man she  loves, the Prince of Wales!
Reading it has excited me for the last day now.

Next up! I have this book, which I have to read quick before it needs to be returned to the library.
I will admit though, I am regretting the choice I made to store my Lord of the Rings books rather than bring them here. Though I am a huge fan of this historical fiction stuff.

Now for my next tangent,  I was planning on saving this for my whole 365 pics to remember a year deal, but I am just too excited.
On Wednesday the rare occasion occurred that Niki and I had a day where we were both not scheduled! We walked around down town, drinking coffee and talking about fantastic projects that we will surely find time for. She took me to this Import Store by her house. It was kind of a funny place because they had all these middle east, and Asian  imports yet they played alot of celtic music. Hmmmmm....... anyways I spotted these fantastic stickers.   The red and blue one is securely attached to my mandolin case, the pink and blue is for the trunk of my scooter. :]
It may not be a big deal to most, but to anyone who plays a less popular instrument you will cheer along with me in this victory. (All this reading of knights and battles has influenced my speech and thought processes.)

That is all for now folks, but please drop me a line, let me know what is up.

OH also BIG NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The mission Medic program that I am a part of is making shirts that we are looking to sell to raise  awareness, and also a small but of funds.
               Please consider buying one.
We are going to pre-order so to assure you get one, please drop me a line.
Once we have a final design set I will try to post some sort of photo so you know what you are getting.
In case you are confused as to what I am talking about  keep an eye on my "pages" I hope to make one explaining a bit about Mission Medics, (that is if I don't get distracted)
To sum it up, it is a program that equips people with medical  knowledge and certification to go into developing countries and do much needed medical work  and teach disease prevention to the people there. It is a great thing, so please consider it seriously!

Well now I need to go buy some lotion. My skin is so dry.  I hope your  day has been fantastic.

Medical phobias are just fun sometimes!

I just got a great text message
"hey I though of you today! we talked about pulmonary embolism."-Jess
hahahahahaha! I guess I should explain, I have developed a few medical phobias through the course of EMT school.
One is Pulmonary embolisms, along with inter-cranial pressure. (especially the thought of your brain hemorrhaging through your basal skull :O)
I like that now people thing of me when they hear of these medical emergencies.
I cannot wait to see what Jessica's phobias will be as she continues on through her nursing program.

another abrupt ending

*Today I made the most yet in tips. I made a 11 dollars and some change! Career for me!
  * Then, I ate pasta.

In class we practiced giving each other vaccines, or rather injecting each other with saline. It is very nerve racking. It is especially tough when you are handed this HUGE needle and told to do an intra-muscular injection, so you ask "how far in should I push the needle?" (A good question right?)
All you hear for a reply is... "Just push it in nice and fast..."
That is all! That is in no way an answer. At one point I went to push it into my partner's (Manaal) arm, it was a total fail. The needle just stopped about a half a centimeter in.  Right as I realize that the whole thing is not working, the whole class goes from talking to each other and ignoring me to randomly watching me! (so awkward, and it made me really nervous) So I pulled it out and got a new needle, re-cleaned the spot on her arm and tried again. The second time was a success.

After class I went out to Buffalo Wild Wings with two class mates , JC and Clayton. GOOD TIMES!
The girl took our order and somehow managed to loose it between our booth and the kitchen. Then an hour later she comes to the table and asks us what we want to eat. hahaha
We did get our wings in the end, and since it is Tues the wings were only 40 cents each.

Tues night BWW night may become a weekly event. :]

   Todays themes are:

    #good tips
    #Injections
    #Wings
#Beers (not for me of course, just the boys)

How to make an 8-point origami star ; part 2

                                          WAITTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you didn't come from part 1then go there now!!!!

                              .............................Sorry about that.
SO after you fold all those corners it should look like this. (We are truly so close to being done.)
                                                                      YAY!!
       next step... ummmmmmmmmmm
                       14.     I think
Open the star at the top (the only way it will open) and make the final folds.
I made a video in hopes that it will help make things clear because it is a strange fold.

                                                       HOORAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
                                                                   YOU DID IT!!!!!!!
You get 10 points, an air high five, and a "Christmas Miracle" leap!
Let me know what you thought. If any parts didn't make sense, or I need to make a video to help you through a part. :]

How to; make an 8-pointed origami star

I took a picture for each step (sometimes more than one picture, and at different angles) in hopes that you will be able to figure it out.

Warning!! This will be the worlds longest post.

Real quick note. Whenever you make a fold, make it as crisp as possible.
 First step; chose your paper.
I like to use bright magazine pages because it looks way cool when it is finished, and it is a good way to recycle magazines.

                    1. Make your page into a square by folding the corner to look like the  next picture..
2.Then cut off the extra... You should have a triangle paper taco. hehe

   3. I labeled the opposite side of the page to make this easier for you.

4. You then fold corner to corner, then unfold, then fold the opposite corner to corner. Notice the letters in the corner.  Then open it to a flat square again.

5. Then you fold the page from side to side, unfold, and fold the other side to side.
Again note the letters in the corner. A to B, then unfold and bring A to D and unfold.

Don't forget to make these fold crisp, These are your base folds.

  6. Then flip the page over and make all the folds the other way.

Stop and make sure all your folds are really crisp and good going back in forth each any every way.

                               Then it gets tricky

   7. Bring corner A in to meet corner B. Corner A should bend at the crease and fit perfectly on the seam line of corner B.
                                                            Then push side "3" down
you are now going to bring C to meet the AB connection
It will look like this once you smooth it all down.
Here is a view from the bottom, just so you get a better feel for how this looks in the 3D.

stick your finger in the pocket on the side. See the crease right over my pointer finger in the pic below? that crease is going to meet the far left side of your star. Watch...

                                                                       See?????
This is what it should look like once you pull the top layer up.
Then I rememebered I have a flash on my camera. haha
This is the view from the bottom.
                                              7. Now all the side corners must be folded into the middle.

Flip the whole thing over and do the same on the opposite side.

This is the view from the top, should almost be an "X" when the folds are crisp.

Before we move on, you have to unfold all those flaps you just folded. Yes, all 4 of them, and fold them the opposite direction, and make them CRISP! You will regret it here in just a second if all your folds are not crisp. Once you fold them the other way, unfold them again, and fold them back the way you first had them.   (I know it is alot of back and forth, but you will get very fast at that. It also makes it easier in the long run.)

   8. Fold down the top, at the top of the flaps.

Make sure you fold the top both ways, so not just forward like the pic above but also back to, fold it back and forth a few times and make it crisp again. (you are going to hate the word crisp by the end of this)
Then unfold the top so it is all flat again.

  9. Unfold those flaps you made in the last 2 steps.

Grab the first layer on the bottom. In this case corner "B".
Pull it up allowing the sides to come in, and it should bend at the crease where you folded the top down earlier.
Notice B is still on the top
the sides will want to come in automatically,  let them come all the way in until they meet in the middle.
                                                                Then smooth 'er down.

                                                                     Flip it over and repeat.

^^^It should look like this now ^^^
                                                                This is a side view
                        10. Fold the top flaps down, the points should all match at the bottom.
Flip it over, and fold that flap down.

 11. This next step is the hardest one . You know the tip? Well it needs to be inverted.

This is where all those crisp folds get to prove themselves. I usually real quick fold all the creases one more time in every direction.

After going over all the creases, I open up the top, so it looks like this.
                                                           Did you get it????
Ill make the next part simple. This is the easiest way to invert it.From the above shape.
Push the middle of one side in toward the middle. Make sure the creases fold all the way to the middle.
Then push in the middle of the opposite side.
                                                                   BAM!!! Then flatten.

We are making great progress. Go take a real quick break, and then come back.

                                12. We get to fold up the star's points now.
Grab the top flap on the bottom. Pull it up until it catches, if it doesn't catch, then flip it over and start on the other side.

Then press it down and crease it.
                                                                 Flip it over and repeat
Then you need to open the other two sides so you can do it to those sides.
This a top view, see how my finger is opening the left side? DO the same on the right.
Should look like this when opened.
SO fold those up too. These are the points of your star. :] Pretty!!!
It should look like a crown once you fold up both of those sides.
                                                          We are ALMOST DONE!
          13. fold the remaining points into existence.
                                              Let me explain haha
Grab the first flap in the bottom corner, it doesn't matter which side. You are going to bring the corner to the middle crease and flatten it down.
                                                            Then on the other side.
                                                               Flip it over and repeat.
Then remember how you opened up the sides like a billion times already??? Well you get to do it again.
Then fold those corners up to.

hold on...... take another quick break, then go to part 2!
